Shooting
with SLRD (digitals) take time to adjust and finding the option
ratios that e.g Canon digital camera can handle in low or high
contrasting situations when one does not have enough time to
re-adjust or customise all settings as the moment to be captured
might be gone. A good example is early sunrises that can easily
becomes a red blob instead of a sunrise picture of note.. With
my Nikon film SLR's I could more easily capture these properly.
However one learns and can also have more personalise functions
that can be pre-set up which is the advantage of working with
digital's these days. These functions/settings can be set
for various situations as each photographer might prefer. One of
the biggest advantages of course is see-ing that you have the
shot seconds after taking the picture. Almost replacing the
Poloroid situation or waiting for the Lab's clipps..
Tips: Remember
Digital SLR's attracts mush more dust particles when exposed to
it, due to its digital operations and "magnetic
fields" created. With long zoom lenses you also find that
fast zooming in and out pushes a lot of air through the lens
which makes it receptive for dust particles. SlrD is almost as
if you are working with a mini-computer in hand.
Spots
on the sensors:
Try to interchange lenses as little as possible, also in a more
controlled "dustfree" enviroment and camera lens
mouting-end facing downwards. Keep CF card slots and battery
chambers lids closed as mush as possible. Blow-outs of sensors
on a regular basis and for Canon digital Cameras technical
support, repairsetc I recommend Cameratek in Randburg,
Johannesburg.
Firmware
updates : new update available for Canon 30D, etc
I found it fixes "problems" with certain autofocus
lenses and focusing faster & sharper with the EFS lenses
(e.g. 17-85 lens) than before.
Cellular
phone pictures: Nokia
phones pictures seems fine at times and can capture a moment or
location well however I find that the moment you use the zoom
facilties with all my Nokia's the quality dropps
dramatically.
I have even used some of my Nokia picture shots on websites ,
however only in limited size.
